F Open and F/TR shot at same match?

Leaddog

F-Class T/R
Is it permissible to shoot F Open and F/TR at the same match? I haven't seen anything in the rules that would preclude it. Did I miss it?

Obviously, a puller and additional scorer would be needed.

Are you shooting 2 matches in one? You'd need a puller and scorer and approval of the match director.

I think you can switch rifles between strings and shoot your F-T/r rifle, but you would still be shooting F-Open.

I was thinking of shooting F Open and F/TR as two separate paid entries.

Charlie, have you been drinking those 5 hour Energy Drinks :)

I am on my 4th cup of coffee this morning. 8)

This Sunday is B-ville. The heat will be back and I'm not sure I'll be shooting this one. We'll see. I'd like to go.

Charlie,
With prior approval of the match director, I would think you might be able to pull this off if you brought out a competent person to staff the pits for you for the day. If you were squadded on two different relays, on two different firing points, it would work. If you wanted to stay on the same point all day, you would need a second person to act as a scorer behind you.

As a guy who has squadded many leagues and matches, this isn't the strangest request I have heard. Good luck with this, I would be exhausted after a day of competing in two events in 100* heat.

Scott - Thanks for your post. I was thinking of doing this next season when I have my Dasher finished. Obviously, 100 degree heat would definitely put an end to any of these thoughts. At 62, I mind the heat more than when I was a young buck.

Charlie,
I have a Barnard switch barrel rig in .284 Shehane and .308 that is a joy to shoot both ways. I have been shooting the Shehane as F-TR for practice while the .308 throat gets lengthened. I am 47 and after a two day match and a beer during the awards ceremony, I could nap for a long time. You do have me thinking though, it would be fun to try to do it. I don't think I could pull off a switch barrel rig through a match, but a second rifle would be cool.

Here is yet another idea I was thinking about just yesterday. A 2 gun match shot half with open and half FTR. You wouldn't have to own both if you shared equipment with a friend just swap guns. That would tangle up the score cards real good.

Yes it can be done! I just shot both f-open and f-tr in our State match on Sunday. All that is needed in 1 extra person to stay in the pits and 1 extra to help score! Works great but it gets to be a lot of shooting in one day! I stayed on the same target and shot both guns on seperate relays.

I've thought of doing this myself. I shoot F-TR and would like to shoot another discipline more "for fun". An older fella where I shoot has brought out some different rigs and shot in the matches. Last weekend, he shot a Garand with an interesting side-mounted type scope in the AROS class that I thought was pretty neat. I think it would be a hoot to shot a scoped Mosin with a sling from prone, but I really don't want to make it my only entry, as I am working to raise my classification, and once a month matches makes it slower than I'd like already. I might just look into it afterall.
