F Class target question Part Deux

Ok, I’ll stir the pot. Why are we still using iron sight targets. White targets with black rings are easier to see for the shooter and score for the puller. :)

And they're even more better in walk and paste to see the holes through the spotter scope. 3 of us shooting tactical against each other recently unanimously mutinied and made our own white targets to put up.

We are still part of sling shooting. Sling shooting is still very big at some ranges. All matches are held jointly. Main target faces are printed for sling shooting with an F class center glued on for the F class shooters. I've never seen a full target face with strictly F class rings. I have seen many ranges that don't use the correct target for mid range F class though. They use the 6x6 long range target with mid range center, which confuses newer or clueless shooters. I don't believe that we will ever see a white center with black rings. They have to be approved targets by NRA. I've also seen many cut down the replacement center so there is less to handle. This is illegal. They are to have the NRA approval marking to be legal for scoring.

I vote for the 5-V target. We are the only country that uses the 10-X target and moving to the 5-V would allow accurate comparison of scores around the world.

Oh yeah....transition to pair firing as well. :)
There are two types of country in the world; those that sent men to the Moon and back, and those that use the 5-V target. I vote other countries change to 10-X targets; a lot less disruption.

On the other hand, pair firing is neat but some firing lines make pair shooting a "cozy" proposition.

This made me laugh, but makes sense too.

For a guy who's still learning, can you explain what this is?
Two shooters on the same relay alternating fire on the same target. Allowed 45sec for each to get their shot off once target appears. This all but eliminates the 'machine gun' tactic of getting all your shots fired in rapid sequence before a condition changes. BTW...I think it would resolve this concern when using E-targets and avoid the pitfalls of a system imposed time delay.

I relatively new to f class but i like our x targets and score what you hit, why would anyone do a percentage.
If you are shooting the X target, you are somewhat shooting against the odds. X 10 9 8 7 6 5.. No 4 3 2 1 .... Miss counts as a zero. V target V 5 4 3 2 1 0 . There is a difference.

I like the horizontal numbers. I'm fine with loosing 10 points for a miss vs 5. It's a steep penalty and should be.

I shot a 600yd match on the new targets today. I hold off for windage. A bit breezy and I was holding 3.5-7 rings but mostly 4-6 rings. To be honest I did not notice the change of target face until my SECOND trip to the pits:rolleyes:. I never realized the change while shooting and I was really bothered by the thought of the NRA removing my waterline aim points:oops:. I guess we all adapt...I no longer have concerns with the new orientation.
