F class tactical

I thought that F class tactical. But I see more and more rifles mentioned in the tactical class in 6mm and 6.5mm.What is the latest rules reguarding f class tactial?

F-Class open a person can use any front rest.. that includes bi-pods.. but tactical is bi-pod only.. you may use a rear rest.. but tactical is restricted to .223 and .308.

Curt,
Don’t confuse F/TR,F-Class/Target Rifle) and Tactical. According to USA NRA and international rules the TR in F/TR stands for target rifle. This is because F-Class got its start in Canada where TR,target rifle) shooters first put a scope on and allowed a rest in its long range matches. Under both sets of rules F/TR rifles are only allowed to fire .308 and .223. Under the F-open rules most anything goes.

Some clubs may call F/TR "tactical", but that is an incorrect usage.

True 'Tactical' matches may allow other calibers, but that is not my game.

Larry.. thanks for the clarification.. that is the case you just mentioned that has happened at the range that I shoot at.

I am still left wondering about the rigs, mainly Accuracy International)that I see on this and other web sites for F class in 6mm and 6.5mm.They are reffered to as F class tactical rifles.I myself believe that a seperate class for magazine fed rifles with a bipod/tripod and weighting no more then 12-13lbs.in any caliber with any sights would be interesting.Especially if the competition required engaging multiple targets at 200yds. or less in a time period that would negate single loading and use of laser range finders.Call it the Stalingrad class.A lttle more politically correct then sniper class. It would still be prone only for us old and or disabeled people and we would not have to jump and or run around like the swat team competitions.Anyone else interested?

Probably because the owners use them for both F-Class matches and for tactical matches. Not that hard to figger out.

Sure. Lots of people shoot matches like that - called tactical matches, practical rifle match, field rifle match, whatever floats your boat. But it ain't F-Class.
