F-class shooting mat

I am making my own f-class shooting mat. I'm using 1000 denier cordura and have a high density "gym" foam for padding on the prototype. It will be 40" by 72" and will have a hole, ala Mr. Biggs design, for the rear bag.

What other features would you look for in a mat made specifically for f-class? If I were to make the "perfect" mat, would they be worth offering for sale? The materials for this 1 off prototype ran ~$85

Thanks,
Keith

Hi Keith,
A light color so it doesn't get hot in the sun.
Water proof.
I put industrial velcro on my mat so I don't have to tie it, I just roll it.

Please post up some pics if you can. I converted my Midway mat by cutting a hole, narrowing the front flap and removing the non-skid black material. It was very affordable and has worked great for me.

The picture brings up a question I have.

For F/TR, would it be beneficial to extend the forward end of the mat for the bipod? I have shot both ways, on the mat and on a small, separate carpet.

I am building the prototype in coyote brown, but I have access to a variety of colors. I'm thinking about putting patches of no-slip (I have that in the same color) in a couple of areas, and have already laid out some arm pads for the forearm/elbow areas as an option...

I haven't built it yet, got to go to my day job today, but I'm hoping to actually build the first prototype tomorrow if I don't go shoot ;)

High density foam may accentuate the bipod "hop". I have found a deep pile, rubber backed piece of carpet to work well on a variety of surfaces.
