F Class National Scores

Congrats to all the winners and everyone who placed well in midrange and long range!

Also, congrats to the new single string 1000 yard record setters in Open (Norm Harold 200-22X) and FTR (Mike Plunkett & Ray Gross 200-16X and Skip Barkley 200-13X Senior FTR). Outstanding shooting boys!.....;)

Jason Peel also shot a outstanding FTR score of 200-15X as well at 1000. Well done!.......;)

I wish the NRA could have been able to afford to cut down the 1000 yd target for my teammate Norman. Maybe next year we can all pitch in a extra 50 cents for targets Incase some one else breaks a record. If this bothers you I am talking to you dirt bag let’s don’t let this happen again

When your best friend post's what you won't say publicly....Just to clarify what Shep is talking about...I asked the line judge to call down and have them pull my target after I shot the record...the answer from the pits was...hell no...those exact words.:confused:

Seriously ? That's sad.
I'm starting to wonder why we put up with this BS and not form our own sanctioning body. It's a brilliant game but between the NRA and host clubs it drives me crazy.

Thats a shame but it doesnt take away from what you did. Id like to see new targets for each shooter and everyone get their target. I think analyzing them would help a lot of guys and Im convinced scores would get better.

Damn Norm, that sucks!...…

When I shot the FTR record in 2015 at Ben Avery range in Phoenix they took the target down and had it waiting for me in the pits when I got there. I have it framed in my office. I really hate to hear that they didn't give it to you......:(

There has to be at least 150 cell phones with camera. Too bad someone couldn’t have snapped a photo. Would have been super cool add to a nice framed memory.

I'd like to thank the Bald Eagles Club and the army of unpaid volunteers for hosting this championship. Such a big event requires a ton of work that shooters never see. As usual, Jim O'Connell ran the stats office flawlessly. Scorecards ready in the morning, scores posted immediately after the event, and excellent squadding...minus no-shows who jumbled it up. Hopefully, next year they will purchase a lot more target faces and spotters so we don't have to deal with the stingy folks in the pits! ;)

Ian Klemm, Norm Harold, Randy Littleton, John Meyers....that was some inspired shooting....hats off to each of you!

So I wasn't the only one that got yelled and cussed at for doing what I was told?

You aren't the only one - trust me. If I was screwing up, that would be one thing. Going to my assigned target after getting off of the bus for the first relay of the day doesn't qualify as such. That said, I think there was a single individual that was the center of that problem.

The rest of the volunteers were friendly and hospitable. The staff at the Whittington center was exceptionally helpful and friendly. I can't say enough about how well they handled the demands of inbound and outbound shipments of equipment and ammunition.

There were some issues, but all-in-all, it was a positive experience and one that I look forward to next year.

It's a beautiful place with challenging conditions. I know we all learned new things from the experience. I look forward to seeing what grows from those seeds.

For whomever was pulling your target, sometimes it's best not to even ask "permission", but simply do what you know is the right thing and let the chips fall where they may. If I'd been pulling your target, you'd have it in a frame right now. That's a real shame, Norm, your accomplishment absolutely warranted having the actual target as a keepsake.

Nonetheless, you can take some consolation that anyone that knows anything about this game is simply blown away by what you achieved. Having a scrap of tan and black construction paper with a bunch of holes in it won't ever change that fact.

Luckily for me Warren Dean messaged me this morning...Him and a U25 young lady was pulling my target and she had snapped a picture so hopefully I'll get a pic!! :D:D

Now that would be awesome! Happy to hear you have good news! Maybe you can blow up the photo and transfer the holes onto an fclass target.

View attachment 1067051 Here is the priceless picture! Two former Marines, both setting the 1000 yd National records for Open and FTR at the National Championships! Mike Plunkett and Norm Harold 2 of the finest men I know and proud to call them friends!
Todd

Todd,

The feelings mutual brother! It would be damn near impossible to find a better friend than you and another Marine like Norm!

Semper Fi,
Mike
