F class glasses question

So went to optometrist today. Changed line bifocal from +2.0 to +2.5 thinking this will be better for ftr and seeing turrets and bubble level for adjustment. Bifocal Vision would work from 10 to 16 inches. Your thoughts?
Also went with polycarbonate lenses with Crizal Alize coating rather than plastic lenses. Your thoughts. Is it worth up charge for Crizal Sapphire 360 coating? Had cataract surgery so prescription is only -0.25 left eye and -0.50 right eye. Rt handed shooter. Any optometrist inputs or fellow competitors input. Thanks,
Steve Zagrodnik

The Crizal coating is really nothing more than any other AR coating. It's another way to make money. I too recently had both lenses replaced, although there was a tradeoff.

I am fortunate to have a ophthalmologist who is also a shooter and a friend. When I need a new prescription, I go to his office at an off hour so we can use the floor for prone positions and a desk for bench positions. He will also come to the shop and help measure the distances I need for running very specific machines. We discuss the results and he explains that there usually isn't one set of lenses which will cover every situation I find I need corrective lenses for. Then too, I really don't use glasses to just run around the house doing odd jobs, although if it involves reading fine print, I find the right pair of glasses.:( The end result is I own several pairs of glasses for specific activities. For the shop, I have tri-focals, for shooting positions, it's usually a bi-focal and for the computer(s) I have single vision made for the digital age. Currently I'm using the polycarbonate lenses, all coated with his recommendations to protect the lenses. The upside is that I don't have to have the prescriptions changed every year as I can go two years at least before needing a change. Yes, it's a PIA keeping all those pairs handy but it sure makes my life more comfortable with the right prescriptions for each activity.;)

One thing about the coatings. Don’t leave the glasses in a hot car. They can craze, in which case they’ll be ruined. Ask me how I know.

Single vision only for shooting for me, especially prone. Too easy for me to get bolixed up looking thru the wrong part of the lense thru the scope and then all sorts of bad things happen. I just got new glasses after annual check up and refraction. Trivex lenses in both my shooting glasses and progressive EDC glasses. Polycarbonate in my tinted sunglasses for driving and shotgunning. Zenni does not do tinted Trivex.
