f class [f] factory

The ontario rifle association has taken notice of the factory chamberings for this sport and have set up guild lines for the novice to compete with out of the box target rifles any production model any chambering to 8mm It is still in the beginnig stages and will commence in ont. canada next spring. My previous post f class [m] was an incorrect title but it does ouline the basics and I feel savage ,remmington and tikka[sako] will sell more target varmit rigs here in ontario.

F(M), also called Factory, has existed in Ontario for 8 years or so. It is not new. The rifle must be out-of-the-box, original chamber. Minor stock alterations are allowed.

This is to encourage guys to come out with their varmint rifles and participate.

At the Ontario Championships, there are never enough F(M) to justify a separate prize so they are lumped in with F/TR.

To further confuse shooters from outside Canada, we also have F(F) which is a .308 or .223 with a front rest instead of a bipod. F(F) has also existed for 8 or so years and is also combined with F/TR in the Ontario Championships.

For the 2011 Ontario Championships the Executive made the decision that the Savage M12 Target rifles in 6BR and 6.5-284 could not properly be called varmint rifles. They are purpose-designed target rifles and this year were placed in F(O).

Thanks for the fog wipe 1000yard lookin good to jump in soon hope the windsor sportsman club can get permits for thier new 100 yard range.Ceder spring is close must find out the hows and whens to get shootin there 600meters I operated the butts one year when I was gettin training for civilian instructor.Any thoughts on who to call to join in the fun[ what association to join]

The ORA uses Cedar Springs. Look on the ORA web site for the contact person.

Cedar has been reduced to 300 metres as has Winona. Long range shooting for ground troops no longer means anything to the Canadian Army. They have converted Cedar and Winona to close range urban warfare training with rapelling towers where the 600 yd lines used to be. This is the type of combat that the Canadian Army finds itself in this century so that is how they are using their ranges. Long distance sniper training is on ranges that civilians don`t normally have access to.

Kingston goes to 600 yds. For 1000 yds go to Borden or Ottawa. The ORA uses all these ranges.
