I've been playing with my .45 ACP Mech Tech upper on my 1911. I found some data from Vihtavuori using N-105 with 185 gr. JHP's. I figured with a 16" barrel it would be a nice fit over N-340 and Power Pistol I use in +P loads for the 5". I loaded up 50 185 gr. Zero's with N-105 in Federal cases with some old CCI 300 primers. Velocity averaged 1430 but extreme spread was over 100 fps! Today I loaded 50 in Starline cases with the same powder charge and used Winchester WLP primers and the average rose to 1530 fps with SD at 16 fps! Accuracy improved and I actually started shooting it at 100 yards! I knew they make a difference but I have never seen anything this drastic! Never too old to learn...
