The few record attempts I’ve seen prior to this have video cameras for hits close to the target and spotters. We see one guy with one rifle who made the shot, but I was under the impression these record attempts often involve half dozen spotters, half dozen shooters, half dozen other support folks, and the one who gets to shoot with the best wind conditions is the most likely to connect. Wind corrections at that range are quite impressive.

about ten years ago, I used to do mile shoots, I recorded many. When the conditions were calm, and the dirt rose, I could zero in on target within about 4 shots. After that who ever I put behind the gun "338 Lapua" they could usually put rounds on target 18" X 24" steel. In 15 MPH winds, one in 50 hits and it was a good day.
