Extractor upgrade

I have 3 Remington 700's, all custom rifles with stock extractors. Is it worth the money to buy the bolt bodies with Sako extractors? What are the possible problems that may be encountered. I am having no issues with any of these rifles.
Thanks for your replies,

You don't say if the 3 rifles have the rivet style extractor or the ones that just snap in. If you break one, replacing it could be an issue. PTG has the style that doesn't require a rivet, but they are made to order.

You mention buying bolt body with a Sako extractor. But if you buy a bolt body the head space may not be correct. There are many good smiths that can modify your existing bolt to the Sako style extractor.

I have far less Remington rifles than I used to have, and I am content to stay with the factory style extractor, but I do have a supply of the replacement extractors. I already experienced one rifle where the extractor broke, so it can happen.

None of the rifles have the rivet style extractor. I have spare extractors as well. I have seen a Sako style extractor break. I will begin a search for a smith to modify my bolts if I decide to change them.
Thanks for the information.

The only reason to go with a Sako or m16 is if your going to change the bolt face or you if for some reason the bolt nose has broke and affecting extractor groove.

I had a Sako extractor break on me and prefer the M-16 style. If you do make the change, be aware that you may also need to have a relief cut made in the chambers to provide the clearance for the extractor when clipped over the case.

Seems like I am installing Mini-M16 extractors now on a daily basis. I have 4 in the shop in process at the moment. Due yourself a favor and have a Mini-M16 installed versus a full size M16 extractor. With the narrower extractor I can make the cut at 36 deg vs the 30 deg the instructions call for. So the ejection angle is 6 deg less with a Mini-M16 extractor. The problem with these conversions is the higher ejection angle vs the factory set-up. Big windage turrets can be a problem. I always tell my customers, if the factory extractor is working fine just run it! I do not talk people into this conversion. Period. If needed I am happy to help.

Millions of 700 rifles work perfectly with the stock extractor. Some look for a solution to a non existent problem.

The stock extractor simply works and like others have said unless the bolt has
damage there is really no reason to try to improve it.
