Export of bullets

I realize this topic has been up before, but laws and regulations change and what was valid is no longer.

What do I as a authorized dealer in Europe need to do to be able to import Us made bullets?
There is both a market and a need for what Midway cannot or will not supply us with.
Can anyone point out the actual regulations and such for both the exporter and importer?
I believe a lot of US custom bullet makers especially is loosing out on a potential market.

thanks

Sal

Canadians as well have been affected by 9/11 and the U.S. Patriot Act. Can`t blame my brethern south of the border. Wasn`t a pretty picture.

We are fighting together in Afghanistan and things are starting to relax a bit for Canada. Brownells will ship some restricted items to Canada along with a letter from the U.S. State Dept. saying the item is mine for life, no resale.

Sinclair is now owned by Brownells and they are negotiating with the U.S. State Dept. to once again ship brass and bullets into Canada under the Brownells Export Permit. This is a slow process as long as the U.S. deems these items to be Strategic materiale.

There are some smaller companies in the U.S. that specialize in obtaining export permits for shipment of bullets into Canada. But as long as the U.S. perceives the world outside the North American continent to be hostile to North American values, shooters across the pond are SOL.

Can`t say I blame them.

I am well aware of the situation mentioned, however I am not sure if it is relevant. I live in a NATO country, and have served in a country that has russia on the border. I have tours in Afghanistan.
My country exports top notch military hardware to the US.

Terrorists don't reload custom bullets from the US. They pick up UXO and make bombs.
The only ones loosing from this situation is american craftsmen who live in a country that have a selfimposed custom border on export. Maybe someone should put the NRA on this, and let them create a market for their members products.

That said I have no interest in interfering in US affairs in any way, and not really to discuss the finer aspects of that great nations foreign policy.

I would simply like to be able to buy some bullets.

Sal,
I think its pretty simple. Most bullet makers in the US have struggled to meet domestic demand for there product and there is simply no reason for these companies to mess with all the government BS involved with exporting bullets.

Sal. I´m in Europe an I´m experiencing this too. This isnt as complicated as many might think. If you are an authorized importer in your country with a current/valid official import license, this isnt too big of a problem. Many online merchants such as SinclairIntl, ect, will export given all the parameters set by the US officials are met. Getting foreing currency is always liked in buisness.

On the other hand, Lapua, Vectan and Norma "to name a few", seem to sustain the need in Europe for bullets, cartridges and powder. Many small buisnesses have also started making jacketed match bullets in 6mm, 6.5 and 7.62mm due to these circumstances.
