Explosion while Annealing

I really need some of your guys’s primers!… mine don’t blow brass everywhere they don’t blow holes through trays and cookie sheets there not so loud I go deaf and fall on the ground in the fetal position scared to death they just pop and that’s it!… mine must be defective!… and I anneal 1000’s of cases and only heat the neck shoulder junction, no idea how you would get the base hot enough to light off a primer and not have ruined brass.following so I can learn

Anyone ever have a spent primer explod?
While annealing Alpha 6BRA today I had one explode blowing out the primer. This has happened twice. 1st time I chalked it up to me mixing in a prepped case somehow. Today I removed the fired brass from case. Only one’s in the. Case Were fired yesterday. I inspected, cleaned and marked the case for the number of firings. Headed out to shop and started annealing when one popped off. Federal gold medal. Don’t understand how it could fire twice or how I could have mixed a new one.
I anneal with the base in a pan of water to act as a heat sink to not anneal the head
I've annealed plenty that I've already pre-primed
And I mainly leave the primer in just to keep the water out of the inside so I dont have to wait for the inside to dry out ..............which takes forever.
Never had a live primer go off with my method

Maybe go old school if you're having issues with that happening

Sir, I'd like to throw something in here, lead can cause an "explosion" or at least a loud Pop if heated via another metal. By this a mean, if you take a small sheet of lead, lay it on a sheet of steel, place a torch on the steel side of the two, you can get some pretty loud pops (along with short streams of lead). In fact, at one time safes were lined with thin sheets of lead-not for weight-but to make it more time consuming for anyone trying to use a torch to break in-pops and streams of lead slowed down the cutting torches. So, with all this said, maybe you had some lead in the area being annealed. Just a thought. But in so far as a primer being able to fire twice? In my mind I would say No.

I believe you, something happened, but i just took a hand full of spent primers from my press, took them out in the yard on a piece of metal and hit them with a pipe torch.
nada.
maybe unburnt powder??? I know on pistol cartridges not all powder is burnt, but usually ends up on the floor.

The heat travels to the base as the case cools (dissapation). So they dont go pop straight away but several seconds after having been annealed, does that make sense?
