Experiences with the Huber two stage trigger Vs CG Jackson Trigger on Rem 700

Looking to go two stage on my Rem 700 6.5x47L Silhouette rifle and wanted some input from those familiar with the two triggers Huber and Jackson to give me their impressions of the two, pros and cons etc.

The factory single stage trigger is actually not all that bad but it is my only rifle without a match grade 2 stage trigger so I want to make it one for consistency.

Any input much appreciated. Thanks!

Bo

I have a Huber 2-stage on my Remington 700 hunting rifle, set to varmint trigger weight. I find it to be an outstanding trigger. I shoot Barnard 2-stage triggers on my match rifles and the Huber is every bit as crisp and repeatable. Only downside is that you can't adjust it, but I've never found the need to.

The Huber does not reset the first stage when you depress and then release the trigger. Therefore, I do not consider it to be a true 2-stage trigger. The CG is a true 2-stage trigger: very adjustable and very safe.

Are you saying that once you have taken up the 1st stages travel and bumped into the 2nd stage stop that if you release the pressure off the trigger the blade doesn't return to it's original starting position? I have felt triggers similar to this in the past and I do not care for that feeling. As I shoot all offhand I like to be able to completely reset and pump the trigger as much as I want and I expect the weight to be consistent for both stages. Those triggers that give you a weight till you hit the second stage and then go limp if you let up leave you hanging with a trigger that is now ready to go off when you bump the 2nd stage that you can no longer feel coming.

Thanks for pointing this detail out to me. Luckily I think a friend is going to be our club guinea pig for trying one so I will get to test it before I make up my mind.

The Jackson CG's have supposed to come a long way. I tried one in the past and the guy could never get the creep adjusted out of the second stage 9he told me recently someone was able to get it right but I have no shot it to feel for myself again) . Others had issues with cross pins walking out mid match in the trigger units. The time I shot it I just felt this sloppy feeling of sorts like it just wasn't solid and I don't like that either.

Thanks for all the info and any more of you have anything to add please step right up!

I've had a CG 2-stage on a Pierce TG action in an Eliseo RTS tubegun for about 3yrs now, and have never had a single complaint or problem with it. This rifle's seen a lot of use in NRA XC HP matches, and this trigger is excellent for that purpose.

I come from a service rifle HP background, so shot mainly 4.5lb 2-stage triggers for years. I went with a Davies 2-stage on a Nesika K action when I built a Palma rifle, and most of my other rifles have Jewell HVR triggers.

I've seen some issues with the CG triggers in the past but they seem to be just fine now. I'm using two of them and haven't had any issues in the last 2 years. The difficult part is the initial setup. They are not the easiest triggers to set, but once you have it they are great triggers. The instructions are hard to understand until you understand exactly how the mechanism works. Find someone who has set some of these triggers up and I think you'll be happy with yours.

Yes, that's what I'm saying and other folks have noted the same. It feels good, but its not really a two-stage like a Geissele, Anschutz, or CG

I have not used the Huber trigger, but I have a CG on a 6BR match rifle and it is absolutely the best match trigger that I have ever used. I also shoot AR based match rifles with Geissle triggers; they are very good, but the CG is great.
