Experience with Rem Sendero II Rifle

I am thinking about buying a new sendero in 25-06 for a long range chuck rifle. I had an early sender in 25-06 years ago and it was very badly bedded and very finicky to load for. I bedded it and after a lot of playing with it got it to shoot 75 vmax's with RL19 in 1/2" and it was great on chucks. Anyone want to comment on how the new senderos shoot?

Second hand information from a hunting acquaintance, his brother bought a Sendero II 25-06 of recent manufacture and is very disappointed. Bedded and tinkering with loads and nothing better than MOA occasionally.

Might take a look at the new 700 Long Range: fluted 26" barrel, M40-style synthetic; very similar rifle, only not stainless and a B&C stock instead of H-SP. And much less $ down a rat hole if it doesn't shoot.

I had a 25-06 a couple years ago.

It was the Sendero II

Mine shot well. I shot 115 Bergers in it using 4831 I believe. Usually kept things just over a half inch at 100 yards. Lighter bullets shot right there as well. Settled on 75 vmaxes for fun!

I have a 7 mag sendero, and the rifle is a shooter. Rifle shoots great. I love that rifle. Its my go to rifle. I have several custom rifles, but I always end up shooting my Sendero. HOWEVER!!!!!
you need to invest some time and money to make it a good shooter. This is what you need to do. 1) get a jewel trigger. 2) bed the recoil lug. 3) get a quality picatinny rail. And thats it! it will shoot great. My rifle shoots 1/2 MOA to 3/4 MOA. Great hunting rifle!

I have the first stainless fluted barrel sender 25-06 sold in Oregon and it is still a half moa shooter @ 100yds. I am a believer that I only shoot 1 brand and weight bullet in my guns that the barrel takes a set to it and all I have to do is chase the lands. I never shoot anything but 115 bergers in it if I want a lighter bullet I shoot my varmit rifles. I own 5 senderos and the first thing I do to them is hand lap the barrels and then treat them with bore-coat and replace triggers. they are all better shooters than I am!

I have a Sendero SF-II, (bought new in 2005) in 264WM. It was a gift from a family member who wanted me to shoot coyotes and feral dogs at calving time. It has a Nikon 6.5-20x44 Monarch scope on it.

I have owned a ton of Remington 700s over the years, and this is one of the pick of the litters. Everything fits right, action is glass smooth, and it is accurate. I did glass the action into the H-S stock with steel bed.

I shoot 95gr V-Maxs at ~ 3,750fps - it shoots string flat, and leaves gooey pile of entrails.

Used to use a Sendaro in 25-06 when I hunted chucks in Pa. Used to call it "the collector". Burned out the throat in just over 1,000 rounds and rebarrelled it to 260AI. Using it today but for deer and not chucks. To me the stock weight and design is a bit cumbersome and heavy. Not a favorite to me but doable.

I would find a 6 BR in one of the popular rifles with a lighter stock profile. Do believe one of those would give you more barrel life, good accuracy and as good if not better long-range woodchuck performance.

great info , thanks will take it all into consideration. Would like to buy 6br but this sendero I found is $1000 so is a pretty good deal just have to decide.
