Excellent Job Lapua / Berger!!

I now ONLY shoot the excellent .300 WSM for F-Open. I have 3 of them: one shoots the 230 Hybrid, another shoots the 215 Hybrid and the last shoots the 200-20X Hybrid. Once I got neck deep into the .300 WSM, I started shooting the 230s. They are about the most consistent bullet I have seen. The weight is very close, the BTO and BTT is within a hairs breath and OH THOSE EXCELLENT meplats! The last few lots of ALL 3 weights have been so good that "fiddlin'" with them i.e. sorting / pointing, is a waste of time!
Berger has made GREAT strides in getting their bullets to be as consistent as the Scenars! Whether this is the effort directly from Lapua or simply Berger "knuckling down" I don't know... But it matters not>>>WE are the beneficiaries of the heightened quality! THANK Y'ALL for going the extra mile!

Ben, what kind of speed do you get out of the 230g ?
I have a 32" barrel. Additionally, I am using VV N565 as a propellant. I did not want to use the upper node, so I use the mid-node at 2775f.p.s. It has almost identical wind deflection at 1000 as the 215s at 2885. WHAT'S THE BENEFIT? Good question! Since I started using the .300WSM, I have found that the heavier the bullet, the less vertical dispersion there is! I am now losing very, very few points to vertical at 1000 yards! Now if I could only get the rest of my wind reading in line, it would be GREAT!!! LOL!!

Amen to great bullets Ben..Its a beautiful time to be a competitive shooter.
Only wish id gotten started sooner, Id be that much further along on my wind calls as well..lol
o_O

Id agree, the 230 is my favorite Berger .30 cal. I have always had better luck with them than the 215. I am thinking the 215 needs a little "nose work" to get its vertical better at 1k where the 230 seems to be a better out of the box design. Not as popular because too many guys worry about bc and ballistic charts, side by side a 215 you will be surprised. They out perform the ballistic charts.

Very interesting. I don’t use 230s, but just bought 4x250 count boxes of 215s. My last buy was 20x100 boxes. The new batch came in new boxes that are same size as the 500 count 6 or 6.5 bullets. The box a about half full and bullets are in a sealed plastic bag that just fits the box (sealed with air trapped inside. The bullets have been banging around for days shipped to distributor and then ground shipping to me. I wonder what it does to bullets rattling for days none stop. The old days, when I bought 6.5 hybrid, they came in a plastic bag wrapped tightly and taped so the bullets wouldn’t rattle around. Next time, I pay the extra and get boxes of 100s.
