Looking at the evolution of cartridges that are the "in" round with target shooters/ultimate accuracy competitors.
At the moment the 6 Dasher, 284 Shehane, 6 BR, 30BR, 308, 300WSM are all contenders. At one time the 22-250, 45-70, 38-55 etc. all had their moment in the sun.
Obviously a subjective question but if you were to look at rifle cartridges only, for lets say medium, long and very long ranges (however you interpret that in general, and in lieu of whatever time-frame you're talking about) how would you describe the evolution of IT cartridges?
What were their strengths, weaknesses?
What made them peak in popularity, what made them fade?
