EVO Leisure Bipod (F-Class Open)

After looking for a long time, I think I`m going to buy an EVO F-Class bipod. My F-Class Open rifle is a 284 Match. Weight is 19lbs. Will this bipod handle this weight? I want a very ridgid bipod with no wiggle.

Re: EVO Leisure Bipod (F-Class)

I have no experience with the Bi-Pod you mention ( EVO) but just out of curiosity. Why would you went a Bi-Pod, any Bi-Pod for F-Open?

Re: EVO Leisure Bipod (F-Class)

These are an excellent and stable bipod but as the previous post points out there application would be for FTR. I see them frequently here on the ranges in the Phoenix, Az area. Being used by top FTR shooters.

Re: EVO Leisure Bipod (F-Class)

I know that there is at least one top level F- open shooter who shoots from a bipod.

Just imagine then how good he "Could" be then if he were to take advantage of the tools available to him? Out of curiosity what does Top Level mean? Top level in what arena?

Re: EVO Leisure Bipod (F-Class)

At least on the national level. I wish I could remember his name. CAPTCOOP, most F- open guys shoot from a front rest, but you can shoot from a bipod.

Re: EVO Leisure Bipod (F-Class)

F-Class Open and F-TR can use either bipod or rest. I prefer F-Class Bipod.

There is no such thing as f-class bipod. F-TR can NOT use a rest.
^ Winner, Winner, Chicken dinner. AJ300 is correct! FT/R can use a bipod or a sling and F-open can use a bench rest, bipod or a sling.

Some match directors allow people to break the rules...

If I recall correctly Danny Biggs won the Nationals a couple of years ago using a bipod in Open however I don't know what he has been using lately. The EVO looks to be very well made and it received high marks in the review http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2012/06/gear-review-evo-f-tr-bipod-from-third-eye-tactical/

Thats who I was trying to think of earlier!

The OP said his rifle was a 284, so therefore would have to be shot in Open regardless of front rest or bipod used.

Danny has indeed won the Nationals, twice, using a bipod. But, it was F-TR. Danny has not won an F-Open National championship. He holds the 1000 yard 20-shot F-open record at 200-15X and is a respected competitor in any match he enters.

Gator, I did some checking on this as well, I shoot a few times a year at matchs that Danny attends and I could not remember him ever winning a Open National match and certainly not with a BiPod. Well the surprise was on me to some extent. After winning Back to Back F/TR National Championships in 2008 and 2009 he made the switch to Open in 2010, and that year he did shoot Open with a Prototype Sinclair BiPod.

While I am a Open F-Class shooter I have decided that next year I am going to shoot the Mid Range matchs in F/TR and Open at 1,000 yds. This thread got me to looking at this EVO BiPod. It certainly appears very well built and I do like the Elevation Mariner Wheel on it. This just might be perfect for my F/TR tube gun.
