Ever had a heated discussion about which load to shoot?

My rifle with 34.0 gr. N120 is at 3240 per Garmin Thats what I was basing the speed on.He listed 34.0 gr. in the thread where the T D guns were listed
Myself and others, shannon Robinson, Brent Cook have loaded as high as 34.4 gr.
The fastest I have been able to get was 3160 for 1or 2 shots, Shannon got to 3140 with flattened primers and Brent got to 3150 ave but felt it was too hot and was jamming the bullets hard.
All 3 of us used a Garmin as well.
Not saying you didn't get those velocities but we just have not seen it ever.
The other thing to consider is when the temps get into the 90's at those speeds and pressures guaranteed those great groups are are going to disappear.

Yea I would not doubt that it falls apart at higher temps. Right now there is no sign on the brass or primer. I saw another area at 33.2 gr. that looked good so probably need to check that out further.

Aren't speeds gonna be dependent on weight of the bullets being shot? Whether it's a 108, 112, 115, or 118gr (or heavier) bullet?

Really, hard to believe 2780 will hold in the wind as well as in excess or 3250 does. Dick Powers just won the T D 6 score with his 108 gr. Clines running right there in that ballpark.
I shoot the 30BRs at 3250, the 30BR (as per Randy Robinett, he knows a little something on the subject) said between 3020 and 3060. So pick your poison and go.

Yea in the past I've always stayed in that 3020 -3060 ballpark with 112 - 118 gr. bullets. Then I started messing around with Cline's 108 gr. and saw where Dick won the T D 6 with them loaded with 34.0 gr. of VV-N120 and worked up my load. I had two charges that looked better than all the rest @ 33.2 gr. > 3184 FPS & 33.8 gr. > 3222 FPS. My barrel is 24 inches. So far I seen no indications of too much pressure but the temps may change that later on as it rises in the spring and summer. At 34.0 gr. my Garmin said 3240ish FPS but was not quite as good as 33.8 gr. showed. Seems these speeds are extremely fast according to the experienced shooters here but that's just what my barrel showed with only @ 100 rds. down it. The test load
was

108 GR. CLINE FB HP HBN C* 1.563 O M 2.244 COL T/L
POWDER VV-N120 [33.2] 33.4 33.6 [33.8] 34.0 GR. PRIMER CCI BR-4 .322 BU.
SEATED @ 1.573 O M 2.254 COL .010 J T/S -5-

3250 ? ? ? on a 30 BR .
I started shooting a 30 BR in 2005 so I have more than a few weeks experience myself.
N120 seems to get the highest velocity but I have never seen anyone admitting they were shooting anything faster than 3150 + including D Powers.
I remember Allie Euber at the 2010 IBS Nationals in Holton Mi. Shooting 36.5 gr. of H4198 and barely able to compress the load enough to seat a bullet, he was literally pressing his primers in with his thumb.
Those were the days before anyone thought about chronographing a load.
