ethical hunting

i just bought a smith and wesson m&p 15-22. it's only a 22 long rifle, but do you think one could ethically kill a coyote at close range? let me know your opinion... thanks!

At close range, most deffinately. Shot placement would be critical, but a .22lr can stop a coyote at close range ethically (close range being 50yds in my opinion).

Don't let the little 22 rim fire fool you with it's little bitty bullet, it has killed more stuff than you can imagine.
Just put it in the correct spot and it will die..

you can kill deer, cows, humans, just about anything with the 22lr its just how far you are shooting and where you are. At about 220yrds it has more energy than a 17hmr also. I would use it for 50yrds and under if you know where your shooting and are also a good shot with it.

22LR kill yes, ethical ?, I would bet you loose 7 out of 10 shot as they would run off with out a blood trail.

Even a 17HMR and 22Magnum would be minimal.

I would recomend a 204 Ruger, 222Remington, 223Remington, 22-250Remington, 243Winchester or larger.

If you shoot a yote in the eye or at the base of the ear or low where the back of the head and neck meet then you will not have to trail him up. Bang Flop. But if you shoot him in the body for a lung heart type shot you will most likely loose him because he will run off and not leave a blood trail. He will eventually die but you will loose him. Get something bigger like a 223.
