Erector spring wear ?

One of my rifles that is subjected to ATVs, Horses, and daily rough handling, started changing points of impacts , once after only a mild solid bump. When it started to happen it was always 5 to 6 clicks high (1/4 min clicks) or 5 to 6 clicks low. I could not find anything loose or broken on the rifle so I sent the scope in and they changed the erector springs and so far all seems good. I can't even imagin how many times the elevation turret had been dialed up and down. Is it common for these springs to weaken over time or with use ? The gun also gets subjected to high temps at times while in the truck, like to hot to touch. I was wondering if that could have been a contributing factor ?

The barrel is freefloated, aluminum pillars , and bedded with marine tex in a McMillan stock. No problems since the scope came back and no problems with the loaner scope that took its place while the other was being repaired. The rings are talley ringmounts and my first thought was a broken mounting screw. I went several years without a point of impact change prior. Then the verticle discrepencies. The repair order said the erector spring was replaced, I hope that was it, or I am in for another unexpected POI change. Groups were running 3.5 inches at 450 yards the other day which is about normal for this gun.
