Entry Level Binos

I am looking around at entry level binos in 8X for my 10 year old son. He is not old enough to hunt yet but goes to the range with me a lot and likes to go hunting with me. I'm wanting to get him his own binoculars so he can get used to using them and feel like he's more a part of the hunt.

I'm not interested in a high end pair as he's probably going to beat them up a little. I don't want to get him a pair of $19.99 Wal-Mart specials but I cringe every time he reaches for my Leicas. I'm wanting to keep it at $200 or under. I've looked at some Leupold Mesas in that price range and they look like a pretty good deal for the money. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions in my price range.

Thanks
Jason

Google is your friend. :)

You might also check Eagle Optics and see what they have on a closeout.

Now, I find myself a bit confused.
I assume the Nikon is made in Japan.
If so, how can they offer a 25 year warranty. The Japanese government limits Dion Optical's warranty to 5 years on March scopes.

Look on Ebay for some old 1950's Zeiss 8x30 Deltrentis or 7x50 BINOCTEM
I use the 7x50 BINOCTAR all the time to spot before I use the ''Big Eyes''Deer hunting or Ground Hog .I think I paid $125 for the set I use and love em!
I've tried some Jap 10x50 roof prism Wind River's and hate them. And they cost me around $360+

Steiner has some very nice binoculars for a very nice price... I would spend money on them before spending it on anything that said Leupold on it.....

You might want to go on e-bay I bought a real nice set Leupolds Wind River Mesa 8X42 that retail for $249.99 for $75.00 in new condition.

i just picked up a pair of 10x 50 waterproof nikon binocs, paid 130, cabelas has them for 189. they say made in china on them,ya cant win.

Thanks for the help guys. I keep hearing good things about Nikon. Hopefully I can find a set locally to look through. Maybe I can find a decent used pair for $200 or under. Don't want to spend too much until he proves that he won't wear them out as fast as he does baseball gear.

Jason, have a look at this deal on another board. Works out to $175, shipping included, for the 8x36 -- which I think would be ideal for your son. :)
