wanted to share with all of you here .

enfield no4 mk1
45 acp
-green mountain barrel I turned down from 1.25 diameter
-sia mag block that replaces the original magazine and holds un modified 1911 magazines
-my own ejector set up with floating pin . really kicks cases out even when you operate the bolt slowly
-tried to keep it looking mostly original even with having to cut 6" off the front end, and moving the steel stock caps back.
took some time and is really fun to shoot. Enfield collectors please don't get mad the gun was in pretty bad shape when I bought it. it was a good candidate for this conversion.
going to try and get some accuracy loads ( might be an oxymoron ) with this rifle , I will post pictures when I get it on paper at 100.

Re: enfield 45acp finished!

You did a nice job. Looks like a riot to shoot. Imagine folks on the firing line ready for the big boom,LOL

Re: enfield 45acp finished!

Looks great! You may be surprised at the accuracy. My Mech Tech conversion shoots about 3 MOA with handloads! For the practical ranges of the caliber that ain't bad!

Re: enfield 45acp finished!

What mag block is it you used ? I really admire your project . I made a mauser using the Green Mtn bull barrel , at 100 with an old 6 x 18 jap Tasco , win 230 gr white box I was getting 3 touching with 2 out , opening the group to 2" .
I was 26 " low of poa though.
Good luck and thanks, Gary

Re: enfield 45acp finished!

Oh I forgot to mention I was shooting a 45 Bench Rest a couple of years ago . It was a blast to shoot large looking groups that when measured would be smaller than most of the PPC s .

Re: enfield 45acp finished!

thanks guys . I have a mauser conversion single shot that shoots really well at about 2" with hot 45 super loads. really wanted to keep this one looking the part. next up would be one that doesn't need the mag block and uses the original mag release. I will post pictures of the mauser later if you want.

Please do. I read about .45 ACP conversions on Enfields a pretty good ways back, and have had one on my to-do list since. Very nice job, there. Do you have a guesstimate on muzzle velocity? Barrel length on the Enfield looks to be about 18"?

Re: enfield 45acp finished!

For accuracy loads, try VV N320 with Precision Bullets from Texas. These have a polymer moly coat. You may find that these shoot better than jacketed or "copper wash" bullets. If the barrel is decent I would expect that rifle to shoot inside one inch at 50 yards. Beyond that the iron sights may limit your accuracy more than the load...

Re: enfield 45acp finished!

here is the mauser I put together a while back.
single shot
Rhineland arms barrel with barrel nut
houge stock
xs scout rail
millet red dot sight

shoots well with lighter bullets. 185-200 gr. best groups were 1.5inch at 100 for 3 shots
