Enduron powders

I've been putting off posting this but I've been shooting 5 rounds of 6.5 130 gr. ELDM bullets with IMR 4451 powder first before shooting 50 rounds of 147gr, ELDM using IMR 4350 or 144 gr. Berger bullets using RL 16 powder. Every time I use 4451 powder first I have very little carbon build up and no copper fouling. If I don't use 4451 first, I have more carbon to clean out of my bore. It's like the 4451 put's a coating in the bore to help the carbon not stick. I've been doing this for a while now to make sure it's not a freak thing. It's a new Bartlein barrel, but I do notice a difference with the carbon. The copper has never been much of an issue. I've had a little copper with just the RL 16 powder, and none using 4451 first. Just thought I would pass this along because I'm a real nut when it comes to cleaning my bore.

I don't know about that but 4451 does shoot cleaner then R-16 for
two of my 284 cats. I have a few lbs of it left thanks to a bud of mine
doing some trading. A few years back, I was shooting R-16 mainly
because it was a time period when H-4350 went missing. En-4451
came online when I got low on R-16 and gave it a try. Sad day when
that powder went defunct. But at least 4350 came back. Alway's
wondered if Hodgdon manipulated the shortage of H-4350 to draw
down the stocks of The En-4451. I would like to see it come back.

4166 shot amazing in several of my rifles. Amazing accuracy and no copper fouling. It was the reason I stopped using all hodgdon powders. Didnt like the rug jerked out from under me. These powders would pressure out suddenly too

Maybe some one will figure out an additive to make into a liquid that can be put on a patch then pushed down your barrel to keep the carbon from sticking during your shooting session. They have an additive for every thing else.
My understanding is that the endurin line has been end of lifed

Of course, but I think there are many of us that have some or a lot left. Just a way to use it where it was not noticed before for it's value.

I wish we lived closer I would give you my maybe 1/2 of 4451. I had used it to make practice ammo because it was so close to H4350. When I went to 22 BR I switched to RL16 from H4350 in 6x47L. Now RL16 is supposedly unavailable for maybe forever. Back in the rumors 2 years ago, I snagged an 8 pounder and I still have 2 1 lb'ers so I am probably set for my centerfire shooting career. I am 76 now.

4166 had some potential storage problems.
From certain threads I've read some vey dangerous problems.

Thanks. I have about 12# of 4451 and maybe 6# 4166. Have one 8# keg of 4451 un opened. I keep my powder in a very dry place. The humidity is 1-3%. It's very dry here at 7000 feet in N. AZ. never had any issues with powder. Have some IMR 4320 that's very old and is still fine. I' use it for 69 gr Sierra bullets in a AR15 223 pistol. It's got a great power curve for pistols. Also use the 4166 for 75 gr. bullets in the AR. It's great for banging steel at 500 yards. I have friends that swear that 4320 is the best powder for 150 gr. 30-06 bullets. I just checked and Midsouth has RL16 for $64.99 a pound.

To me 4320 is Varget without the temperature stabilizer. Good powder!
