Hello All,

allow me to introduce myself, I am Toby Hagan, a Tool and Die Maker from rural VA. I'm trying to get my foot in the door in a Gunsmithing shop. Doesnt matter a bit to me if it's a full blown gunsmith shop, an action manufacturer, barrel manufacturer... whatever. I'm willing to take even an entry level position if it will mean a shot at my dream. I am from Virginia, but wanting to relocate so location is no problem! If you, or anyone you know might be interested in giving me a shot, it would be received very will and I guarantee you wont be disappointed!

I travel quite a bit for my job. I frequent gunshops as I travel.
I am in several Gander Mountain stores that cannot keep a gunsmith.
Not sure they would pay very good but for sure you could get a job there

The funny thing with gander mountain is no matter my level of experience with firearms, let alone machining, "weren't sufficient for a gunsmithing position" they said i would have to go to a trades school and get a degree in gunsmithing.... while i do want to do this, i'm wanting to get my training from someone in the field (meant with no dis-regard for the vocational schools.)

I think your getting the run around with gander.
If you are really a good tool and die maker you already are qualified.
All i have see those jokers do is change a barrel on a shot gun and put on scope block and other small reapairs
Maybe there is some work for you in a small dealers shop.
Actually firearms are pretty easy work.
You just need the take downs on them.
Chambering a barrel in a center fire isn't rocket science either.
Tool and die makers make wonderful gunsmiths.

Check with Tagart. They could find you a gunsmith to work with. the website is taogart.com i think. just google it and you will find it.

One of the Sharps builders out west was looking for a machinist a while ago.......

just sayin...
