Emergency . . . RCBS Chargemaster Combo won't turn on!

Well, I'm in a bit of a pickle folks. I have the Chargemaster combo (have had it for several years) and it has been working great. But I went to turn the thing on today (for the first time in probably 14 months) and it won't fire up for me. Nothing, nada, zilch activity. I detached the scale from the dispenser and tried turning it on - nope, still nothing. I have two transformers for it - neither work. Of course, I tried all the obvious things - different outlet (when I use it, it is plugged into a line conditioning surge protector - tried a naked outlet and same results). Any suggestions? I'm in a bind because I have only until Thursday morning (27 May) to get these loads worked up and then I have to travel.

Rcbs will take the even if they are out of warrenty send a chenck for I think its 40 dollars they will eather fix it or replace it. Mine got to where it would never weigh right. It would say the ammount you wanted but you could let it set there for a second and it would go up or donw 4 to 5 grains. I got scared of it and called them it was out of warrents and they told me to send a check and it would be took care of. Had it back in 2 weeks with new keypad and scale.

Try a universal power pack and you can change all the settings to match the numbers on the RCBS ones. But it sounds like its the scale. If that dont work there is not much you can do except send it in like the others suggested.

It won't get your loads done on time but RCBS will replace it for 40.00 like stated.
Can't beat that service. I guess it would be nice if they just lasted forever.

That happened to me once in a similar time constraint situation. I ignored the potential to void the warranty (which was already over anyway) and took the bottom off the dispensing unit. Then I unplugged the ribbon cable, blew off the connections (both sides), plugged the ribbon cable back in, and put everything back together. It revived successfully. My situation was like yours so I took the risk and it worked.

If it is out of warranty and you take the bottom off to attempt re-seating the data cables and it does not work, will they still repair it for $40? It would be worth a phone call to find out. I also wonder if there is a way to reset the unit by a button combination. Maybe RCBS could answer that question also.

The Snake, Mine did the same thing. Would not power up, checked the power supply output, took the bottom cover off to see if there were any fuses couldn't find anything. Called RCBS told them I opened to look for fuses and they still took car of it for the $40.00 so thats service you can't beat! Working good so far. I sure wish we would start making this stuff in the USA again.

Mine is on its way to them as we speak. I wonder what the problem with them is? Lucky for me a buddy is loading up the rounds I need to give to the smith!
