ELR steel challenge

I live in Wy. And have the opportunity to shoot some of the ELR shoots here. I just missed the first one at Burns KRG. But I live right where the Night force one will be shot. I have mostly shorter range rifles out to 1K. I would like to shoot the light gun up 16#s for this shoot with my son. Adult son. So A big caliber is fine. With all said and not wanting to wait for a BAT action and Alex Wheeler to build me one. What Factory rifle would you buy?

I'd pick a caliber you can get components for. Load and practice. If your son is going with, consider the team shoot! I've only missed a couple of years due to medical issues. It's a good time!

David Tubb might have something for you. Not so much for the budget-minded.

Adaptive Target Rifle

Regards
Rick

I have shot this match three times and it is a blast. I dont shoot BIG stuff either. I have shot 6.5CM and 284 Win. This year I am shooting a 6.5 PRC. IME a bullet with a G7 of 0.350 or better and a MV of 2800 is enough. Being able to spot your shots is critical, so dont go too big/light. The match is more about reading wind than anything else.

Several TUBBGUN assemblies in the safe. 36" heavy contour 33XC chambered barrels on the shelf. 33XC brass, dies and bullets are in stock.
If you want a 37XC we would need to make you a barrel - take about a month or so as Schneider barrels are basically on site (13 steps away out the side door)
