Eley Chambered Rifle

Not for nothing but if you take your stuff to a smith and he gives you a Win 52 chamber then you better find a better smith because a lot has happened since 1965.
Yes it has , I've tried Bill Calfees reamer designs , which work but are or seem to be more ammo specific . When chambering a rifle , it needs to be determined what the owner is actually being used for . If most of his shooting is using wal mart target ammo , or low end match ammo , the 52 reamer has out performed most reamer designs with a wide ammo choice including HV ammo . Although my 12 yrs of testing and shooting 22 lr isn't definitive , it's convinced me .
Please , not being offensive , help me continue testing with your testing results please .

This is what i have come to learn, newer designs in reamers are so "ammo specific" and up to the owner to as to where on the driving bands that he wants the lead to engrave them.. i to have had conversations with Kevin at Perry, all though it was during the long range championships.. Through these conversations i have garnered that he knows way more than he lets on that he knows..

After thinking about this comment a bit, i have say that i too agree that a lot has happened since then, but just because it is "yester year", doesn't mean that it isn't relevant any more..

And the specs they're talking about are the same as a 52 , just dif names . The 52 is .580 long with a 2 deg leade
Pm me your email and I'll send all the reamer specs I have and those I tried will be highlight.
And i have done so now..

OK that's a fair point. I would have no good reason to disagree with that in those types of applications.
My comments are universally about match rifles and match ammunition. That is my experience and interest.
Remember the 52 reamer came into being with match barrels then that are generally no match for custom barrels now that also are universally smaller in bore diameter.
A lot of this has to do with how good and how fast a slug seals the bore on ignition.
Given that, there is one thing learned that has proved to be rather important, in particular, as to how deep a chamber is cut with ANY reamer and that is how many rounds you can shoot before your chamber builds accuracy compromising carbon.....there's a sweet spot.
This applies to DOC's post above. There's an opinion that it is not so much the type of reamer but the depth of the chamber you cut with it that is ammo specific.
This is why ol Billy drones on about ELEY posting OAL specs on the box because that is what he chambers for.
He cuts a long chamber and you now try shorter ammo.......less optimum results.
I have a couple barrels that shoot longer and shorter ammo but that's not common.

Yup ! I sent UMCDOC the reamer prints I've tried . Suprizingly the sporting reamer held short to .590 in loose barrels and .600 in tight barrels , or the other way around ( need to get my book out ) shot great .

Anytime , the yellow ones showed the most promise , the std sporting was held short . The lilja , ppg, free land , long rifle match and Anschutz were all good but after running thru 10,000 rounds and a solid 2 yrs I settled on the 52 . I did try Calfees design , again very ammo specific .
I guess my shooting skills and barrels just can't split hairs any better !
I did recently lend a fellow member and smith the Reamers , he used the 52 , knowing he can always go longer , no need to . He said he was getting an honest 1/4" groups at 100 . I believe it , I can usually get 1" at 200 yds and 3.5" at 300 , if it's calm enough for 300 .

I resent the page , please note the win 52 and the eley match . The win and eley are all but the same with the eley going .585 and the win going .580 both have 2 deg leade

Midway had the win 52 d match reamer 2 weeks ago for $50 . It was so good I bought a second .
I'm not sure if it's still available .
Do you have Bill Calfees book ? It's a must for 22 lr accuracy buffs .
Where do you live ? I'm in hurricane torn south Florida , if you get down this way the doors open .
