Electronic Scal

Planning to purchase one of the electronic scales in the $200-300 range.

Any thoughts on the RCBS Lite, Lyman Gen 6 , Franklin Arsenal, etc?

Am I making a mistake by not going for the $800 - RCBS scale?

Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I would suggest that no matter which scale you get, that you also get a set of calibration check weights in the range of the charge weights you use when you load. Most of these will come with a weight to be used for calibration at something close to full scale range, but I would add a half range as well as those ones in your typical charge weights,

My suggestion would be to increase your price range just a bit and by the A&N FX-120i from Cambridge Environmental Products for $465 + shipping.

Why? This scale is FAR superior to any of the scales you listed AND it provides you the opportunity to add the Auto Trickler or the Auto Trickler dispensing system at some time in the future.

Buy once, cry once.

I was wondering how much they were now.

I have one of the grizzly/ bald eagles that is pretty accurate - I use it to check my M-5 sometimes- then right next to that I’ve got an A&D Fx-120 — For a digital I’d get the grizzly for a cheap scale and after that skip the rest and go right to the Fx120 - I’m planning on getting an auto trickler for mine in 2021. I wouldn’t waste my money on a charge master

I already have one but I checked the link for curiosity. It shows $873 in US dollars.

If you are gonna pay $800 for the rcbs you would be better off saving a little more and buy the auto trickler.

Nothing wrong with a Lite if you want a combination dispenser / scale. I Haven't used the other manufacturers so can't comment.
The lite isn't going to be the fastest or the most accurate option available, but it will do everything you need at a reasonable price. I use one with no issues other than time spent weighing powder.
For $800 I have no interest in the RCBS. You can get better technology in the FX-120i with an autotrickler and autothrow for a few dollars more and you will have both great speed and accuracy. You will have to wait though.
Unless your a good enough trigger puller to see the difference on your target that 2-3 kernels of powder makes in your load and you are on a budget, buy the light with confidence and as your skills improve, improve your equipment.
If money is no object, Buy once, cry once and wait. The FX-120i is CURRENTLY the best option in my opinion.

thanks Jim, not sure how I missed that.

you may want to watch this video before purchasing

Wow, I liked that this guy is very detail oriented, and I admire that he took the time to create a video for the benefit of other shooters.

But after sitting thru countless, endless, droning PowerPoint presentations I have the same thought about this video and many others:

BREVITY MOFO....BREVITY. Tattoo it on your forehead backwards so you see it every day in the mirror. BREVITY

Ok, I feel better now.

Sorry, that just was not 38 minutes of useful content, IMO.
