Ejectors and F/O & FTR

How many upper echelon guys are running ejectors in their FO/FTR rifles?

We are just starting to shoot on electronic targets and crikey you can get them down fast.

I don't know if I qualify but I use a sako with 5 coils removed.

Of course you qualify ;D

Do you know of many using the ejector?

I am thinking of getting a new bolt with ejector for my panda after this....and maybe a net to catch the brass :)

I Certainly do not qualify....

Would like to point out however that Kelbly can install or provide the Mechanical Ejector that will allow you to have your cake and eat it too. If you choose to remove the fired case from the chamber and remove it with your fingers you can do that by not pulling the bolt all the way to the rear. If you want the spent case to clear the loading port all youhave to do it pull the bolt back until it hits the ejector. The Brass ejection will depend on how much force you aply to the reward movment of thebolt. Nice...
You all are dealing with a complete seperate discapline than out of sling and have alot more movement to you arms and body than us prone shooters. We are kinda strapped to the rifle and every movment we make moves the rifle tooo and Foe. Fclass has more lea way in this reguard..
In a team Match. I like to have the Ejector because it allows me to make less movements and shoot faster for the coach. When the Coach is down there reading the wind and turnin knobs. He wants you on the gun ready to pull the trigger when the command is givin. So I lay down a small had towel that chatches my brass so that when My turn is up shooting i fold it up with thebrass on it and lay it on my Matt. Pull the whole yard sale of stuff back out of the way so the next Shooter can get in position so the Coach does not have to wait on his shooters... Rollin right along.
I asked this same question over on the Sling shooters forum and was suprised how many top sling shooters do not use an ejector.... to each there own I guess.

I'm not upper echelon, but I use the tg ejector from Kelblys and think its perfect for f class, most of the time I pick the case out of the port, but if I have to opportunity to run em I can.

Most in Aus seem to use ejectors it looks like. Especially us on the west coast. All our shooting is done on electronic targets and people can shoot a 10 shot string in a minute. The machine gunning on electronic targets is a bit of an issue I feel but thats a separate issue. When shooting on any target, I position the top section of my ammo box into a spot that the cases land in. I dont bother collecting them mid string, prefer to focus on the conditions and pick up the cases after the string. Yes every now and then you lose one, but most of the time its easy enough to pick them up.

I don't know if I qualify either but I'm with Rtheurer being as I grew up with a sling, just me but if all I have to do is feed it and not wipe it's a$$ I'm happy.

Yeah it is amazing what can be done with electronic targets. I think I can interchange bolts with the Pandas so I might order a bolt with an ejector from Kelblys and have the option. I have used them in the past on a 6br and the case mouth always ended up with one side slightly flattened, but maybe with the thicker .308 brass (at the neck) it won't be such an issue.

I think U.S. F-Open shooters tend not to use ejectors or, like Mike, weaken them. My 6BR Viper SS is a Drop Port and ejects without an ejector. That's as close as I get to having one.

I guess I should have re worded my response a little, the rules say nothing about rattling all 10 or 15 shots off very quickly. So people tend to have ejectors to enable them to do so. We dont need to wait for targets to down, be marked and patched then back up. Once you have fired, by the time you finish follow through and look at the monitor next to you the shot is already showing and your allowed to fire again as quickly as your reload allows. Ejectors make that quicker. The majority of good shooters dont machine gun fast, but some times it is of benefit to make the most of a condition and get 3-4 shots off before waiting a change out.

Have seen a dual port action fairly rattle them up there before. Quickest is around the 45 second mark for a 10 shot string. Man its funny when they get caught out though... lose a shot out wide and they stop look around and forget where they are going and the next shot is generally about as useful as a sighter...

Back to topic- I like my ejector on my pierce but if I bought an action that didnt have one, it wouldnt bother me unless I was shooting BR.

No ejector = no mark... ;D

Unless your bolt came with an Ejector and you took it out. Thus leaving a hole in the bolt face. Then you get Nipples on your cases..... Did I just say Nipples? Bumps, I said bumps

Had one removed and plugged, and the next one I ordered without the ejector...

Whether you want your cases to pop out or you want to remove them yourself depends on your shooting style. My shooting style and thought process is slow enough (and getting slower), I have plenty of time to pull the case out, drop another one in, and still wait for the puller to put the target back in the air.

Enjoy watching David Bailey's acrobatics.. pulling the bolt and catching the case in the air...and doesn't even know he is doing it... one pure, fluid motion.

Shouldn't get ejector marks unless running over pressure loads or soft brass.

I like an ejector for speed when I need it (assuming I can get a decent puller) but mainly it's so I can pay more attention to conditions. It only takes a second or two to pluck out cases and find an empty space in the box to stick them but it's a couple of seconds I don't want to waste.
It's also a little awkward to pluck out cases the way I position myself behind the gun. On a bench it's fine.

I really like it in team shooting in case my coach wants to run fast. Plus it's funny to have cases plinking off her scope stand.

Ejectors are certainly not for the anal retentive types. Cases get wet and muddy sometimes. At someplace like Sacramento you have to make sure to get all the little rocks and sand out of them.

BTW, Kelbleys TG ejector is the way to go.
