Educate Me on Barrel Burner Calibers

Considering a 6.5x284 but every article I read considers the caliber to be a barrel burner. When I read recommended loadings using 130gr and 140gr bullets the powder charges are pretty much the same as a 270 Winchester. Why is the 6.5x284 considered a barrel burner and you never hear about a 270 with those issues considering similar loads? Is 0.013" difference in bore size that significant or is the term "barrel burner" applied more to bench shooting where a 270 is not used?

Your thoughts are appreciated!

270 is used for hunting. A good hunting accuracy of 1 MOA will be hold up to 5000 rounds.
6,5-284 is most used for target shooting and this people change the barrel when accuracy start to go down - after about 1000 rounds - because they want a winner and not MOA accuracy. And the 6,5 is named burner because a 308 Win barrel with less powder has a higher lifetime.
Tip: with a 6,5 the lifetime can be improved with a smaller land diameter ;)
