My condolences to the family.

Working from dim and flimsy memory: I met Ed just once, at John Dewey's range near Clinton Corners, NY, in the early 60s. He had with him a rifle that had been engraved by the Achleitners, who I think lived somewhere relatively nearby. He offered to trade it to me for a '59 Morgan 4/4 I was driving at the time. Not sure if he was serious, but I declined. Probably a mistake.
