Bob has a buch of historical BR guns from Shilen and from Ross Sherman. I wish I could buy every Superior he has.

If anyone out there buys a Superior, get a hold of me, I have a LOT of historical info about Ross Sherman and the Superiors.

The Superior was different from the Shilen.

It was made in Dryden NY (30 of them total, numbered 1-29, skip 30, then #31) by Ross Sherman, who got Ed going in the business. When Ed made the 4 lug, Ross made the two lug Superior, calling it that because he felt his design was superior to Ed's.

But that Shilen above is one purty gun

Ross Sherman was also responsible for making the first sets of carbide bullet making (swaging) dies.

Yes he was. I have a few of his 22 caliber 52 grain bullets. He made carbide rifling buttons for years as well. Fascinating gent with an incredible renniscance man life story. Played brass in a pitband for "silent films"...early films with no sound, but a musical score that provided drama. Consulted with US military on two groove barrels for Springfield rifles. Sold cars. Had a machine shop with leather belt driven tools from Civil war. And Ed was mentored in his garage. Not to mention helping Harts and Mike Walker. In BR HOF for his work.

Where does the Shilen DGA action fit into all this. Was it a later design??
