Ecconomy/Election year

It will be interesting to see what the promoters of the Shot Show and SCI convention say about crowds this year. The ecconomy is very tight maybe in a recession. The majority political canidates on both sides of the fence that are running for national office are not particularily gun friendly.

The gun business falls in three catagories, must have/need items, wanted items, and luxury items. The wealthy will always have their market. The must have/need items will also have a market but the just wanted items will take a hit during hard times.

I watch the Shot Show as a barometer of the ecconomy. It is interesting that only 25% of the first time vendors return for their second shoot show. Those who have been in it for the long haul are showing signs of the tight ecconomy. An event that is sold out usually a year in advance is having vendors cancel at an alarming rate.

A local deer show in my area is usually sold out a year in advance is also having cancelations at an alarming rate. The local SCI club has cancelled their annual banquet this year.

All to me are signs of hard times coming. I hate to call the sky is falling but we need to wake up an take notice. The ball is in our court.

A wise man once said to me "There'll come a time when money cant get you a gun....but a gun can always get you money!"

The Dallas Safari Club convention weekend before last was the largest ever. This is in terms of attendence and display area. Couldn't tell a slow down here. That is except my pocket book.

I think there are several things going on re- the shot show, I called about 2 months ago, and pretty much everything in Vegas was booked up, they said it was due to it being Super Bowl weekend! Also global warming has to be considered!!

After seeing how much $$.$$$.$$ changed hands at the Barret-Jackson Car Auction, I think the economy is in "real" good shape!
And if Vegas is booked up, not too many folks are worried about it.;)

The kind of people who can afford Barret-Jackson will always have money. Its those of us who push for overtime or work two jobs,or both) to fund their hobbies that will be hurt.

From being on the receiving end of going from 10 to 12 weeks back logged down to only two jobs in app. a 2 month period, don't look like we are in too good of shape to me. The housing industry is in the crap pot in most places and around here that puts a damper on everything especially construction. And it ain't nothing put stupid politics. It is destroying this country. Sad but true, ain't nobody in the race that is capable of running this country. Sorry, nope. I'm no politician and never will be. Bill

Most of the working people in america are hurtin...there is aprox 30% unemployment in these parts among the construciton people...the two biggest chemical plants in the are have cut employment from 5500 jobs to 1700...several plants have closed...big oil is consuming all of our income at the pumps and thru increased shipping charges on everything else...they are robbing all the other industry because we dont have money to spend on anything but FUEL....like one guy said,,,"hey times are great..I have TWO jobs ..and so does the ole' lady"...it aint funny...no one is gonna take our guns from us...we cant aford to shoot em or keep em....Im no politician either..but a blind man culd see this with his cane....Roger
