I hope you are correct, but I'm not holding my breath. What worries me most is the total failure of our educational system to teach meaningful history of our country and world events. The lack of knowledge about things that happened in the mid to late 20th century by "citizens" in the twenties and thirties is simply appalling. If you don't know history you are doomed to repeat it.
Not sure Dave. He is now retired after a lifetime of setting up companies in Europe for his then employer. I was in Nice and other countries "over there" when in the Marines back in 1953. Wonderful experience. I would bring Carlos, his wife and a couple of others "Heinekins" beer each year at the SS, and they would take me out for dinner and ice-cream afterwords. It tasted like what he drank at home. We had fun. The man had EQUIPMENT of the highest order ! But then... he could afford it. He told me he and his wife had reservations for a flight on the CONCORD , but they of course stopped that before that took place.
I was in tech [semiconductors] for over 40 years also. As you mention 0$ return. We might have gotten a few people come through with questions, but always small opportunities. Weird how much was spent on them. I always thought it was driven by the egos of top management.
