eBay scopes - are they any good?

Buying a scope takes a little trust. I would much rather buy from a regular poster on this forum that someone you know nothing of on ScamBay.

That happens to be Anti gun.

I concur with Johnny Johnson, ebay is totally antigun as well as paypal.I dont use them for much anymore.

jon,
I did not know that about ebay or paypal ??? I will have to put them on my growing list
wallmart, McDonalds, proctor&gamble, sean penn jane fonda susaun surannwrap,ect..ect......
From now on when I buy something from somebody here on 6br there just going to have to take a bank check or money order. NO MORE PAYPAL.
Wayne.

And, as mentioned yall, junk is junk no matter how you slice it or dice it. I'd rather deal with the people I know and trust like the guys here on 6br. Bill

P S Pay pal sucks.

You cannot use paypal to do any type of firearms purchase. If they get wind of it (buyer or seller mentions firearms related phrase in delivery comments) they will freeze any funds you have in account with them.
I believe I have also read of them freezing funds in the bank checking account such sellers use to fund or receive their paypal payments.
They have no qualm with you using their services for any manner of porn.
I used to do a tremendous amount on ebay but won't give them or paypal my $$ anymore. Life is better without ebay anyway.

Paypal is a payment mechanism...what do you mean they're anti-gun? how so?

I'm not defending ebay or PayPal policy not to do any purchase transfers for anything "gun" related, just went through the Anti-Gun list and there not on it.

ebay was a good outlet for ALL things firearms until, if I remember correctly the Columbine shootings, then after VA TECH it was the end for things that could go "bang"......I think this is called "CYA" as items used in this and other crimes against the public make the lawyers work....er fish for the biggest one to go after. Just like K MART bowwed down and quite selling any Military (FMJ) Rifle Ammo & Handgun Ammo, now that Sears owns them the Rifles and shotguns are gone, just like Wal Mart.

WOW!!!WOW!!!WOW!!!
Thanks mike for the site. For any of you that consider yourself a American patriot I suggest you read this site, bookmark it and consider who and what businesses are on it before making purchases. You say it doesn't matter or my vote don't count,
WELL YOU SHOULD AND IT DOES!!! many of these have been on my list for years but many I didn't know about. Thanks again Mike for the info.

My Bbother in law just baught a Win 270 wsm from Wally World....how, exactly are guns "gone".

4xforfun,
I haven't stepped over the threshold of a walllllmart for over 10 years now due to there political, sexual and other views that that I won't discuss on this open forum or I know I will end up in a p*^# ing match and I don't want that. The last I knew they still sold guns and ammo. I personally would rather pay double the value @ my locally owned conservative based hardware store that has as many American made products on there shelves as possible than get a gun or anything else from walllllmart for free.
Wayne.

This thread reminds me of all those "Luftwaffe stamped" Leica IIIC cameras coming from some dealer in the Ukraine for very low prices. I think there were a lot more of these listed than were ever made by Leica.

Wally World stopped selling Firearms as company policy here in 2005, there are none in any of our local stores.

I believe stating arbitrarily that scopes from E-Bay are questionable is a foolish thing to state. Just like any place else, there is good and bad. Just make sure of what your buying. there are good and sometimes great deals on E-Bay. Only a fool would not take advantage of them....

E-bay, well as far as scopes go, I've just sold 5 scopes, leupold, burris, and redfield, these were mostly older scopes, 15 yrs old or so, and I think I got a good price, better than just sittin in my shop! I got $450 for a vxiii 3.5x10x50, but, I don't think I could replace it for that? Also I bought, 3 Zeiss 4x14x44 scopes about 4 yrs ago, paid about $475 each, with full paper work, should have bought them, every other day, took a little time for the guy to deliver about 20 days but thats ok! Oh, these are my go to scopes now, but i won't pay what they want now!! I sent one of the Zeiss back for a parallax problem, other than the time it took , no probems! One other thing on the Zeiss 4x14's, they are perfect for my 17hmr volquartsens, only scope that I can shoot vermins for 6-7 hours without head aches, eye strain. Here in Oregun, these little vermin keep a guy pretty busy, 6000, last yr. with the 17HMR. Lots more with the 17 AH, 17 mach 4, and 204 coopers.

Ebay is the world's largest auction site: with a system that benefits both buyers and sellers. With such a large audience, you will usually get a full and fair price selling it on Ebay ... if you yourself have a good reputation and are selling a quality item. I have a feedback rating of +125 on Ebay with zero negatives. I have never, ever had a bad experience on Ebay after buying and selling hundreds of items: many quite expensive. When buying, I follow one simple rule: buy from sellers with perfect feedback and at least 10 ratings. If you don't want to use Ebay, more power to ya. But, it's much easier to size up a seller on Ebay than when purchasing off a forum and they have a formal dispute resolution process.

Remember when you had to purchase newspaper ads to sell things and you prayed someone would see your items for sale? Thank goodness for Ebay I say!

PS. If you are buying a name-brand scope from a seller in Hong Kong...shame on you for feeding the piracy problem.

bozo,I use bank checks almost exclusively , that way you can get them for mail fraud easier.Which is a felony.

No guns in WalMart in Ct either. I don't look often. Its possible theres one "hold out" store but I doubt it. Some of em still have a few boxes of ammo but thats it.

I'm sure it depends greatly if you live in a blue state or a red state.

Gunshop owner told me Wallys gave up after the BATF did some paperwork checks. Any minor discrepancies in paperwork and your license was suspended.
Not sure if he's a valid source. The BATF suspended his license for exactly that and he's not a happy camper. ;)
