Hey Stick,

I was wondering what category you shoot in when the rifle weighs as much as the shooter? I loved seeing you trying to carry that gun to your bench.

That's a very nice video. Any idea what editing software was used to produce that... it's surely better than what we've got for the "office computer."

I'm also curious as to the weight limits in the match. Looked like mostly 17-pounders and heavies.

What distances for the targets?

It is a nice video for sure. Good camera work but it just doesn't show the wind and mirage we had. It was brutal to say the least.

Weight limit in the match was 40 pounds and caliber limit is .30 cal. Most of the rifles are 17 to 30 pounds. The targets are clays at 400 yards. The board has one large clay, two mid sized clays, and five mini clays. A mini clay is 60MM or just about 2.25" in diameter. The large clay is scored at ten points, the mids at twenty, and the mini's at 30 points each. You take ten rounds to the line to break 8 targets. The only flags are large range flags at the targets and a couple of standard benchrest flags out at about 100 yards.
The guy in the scare shirt at about 1:43 into the video is Jason Leavelle, the shoot winner. Jason shot a nice 810 out of 1000 points. He is the winningest shooter on our circuit (an informal circuit fondly known of as the "Redneck Circuit") and is always tough to beat. He shoots a 6.5 x 284 crafted by Sam Duke. The rifle is built on a Stainless Steel Viper action and sports a Kreiger 8.5 twist barrel.
I can't think of one of our shoots that was won with anything other than a 6.5x284 in the last three or four years. There was a 6 Dasher that placed second at Utopia this year.
