Early barrel tuning

After barrel break in (usually 10-20 rounds for me), I finish fire forming and usually use that time to find a seating depth, and try to find something to shoot the rest of them in a short range match (200-500) that I wont be upset about fliers. Now I have 75-100 formed cases for that barrel, and I start with that seating depth for that bullet and find a powder charge with formed cases. I usually end up right around the originally found seating depth at final load. Usually. Might not be the right way, and might not work for you, but it usually works for me.

When do you test primers? Before Powder charge and seating or first thing or don’t mess with it I’d load is shooting?
I read on here somewhere by an accomplished shooter that he tested primers after finding a powder charge and seating depth that worked.. not sure if that’s the norm but works for me. If i find a different primer that improves accuracy I’ll test the powder and seating either side again to make sure it’s still in.
