Have you shot on the Intarso targets at Bisley Ian? (If so, any thoughts? - the NRA Journal report reads well - but it is written by Intarso's CEO! :))

Yes I have Laurie, several times and I really like them ..........for practice and load evaluation, I was one of the first ones to get screwed over at Blair on the Kongsberg targets, so I'm a bit of a E target skeptic!
Having said that the Silver mountains at Diggle a couple of weeks ago seemed to work well. There was talk about building the 7 second delay into the targets, but I'm not sure that it will happen. I was half way through recording my plot sheet when I was having to call out the other shooters score and then finish my plot, how inconsiderate :) Interesting times ahead for all F class shooters.

I think we are going to name our new team The Luddites.

I'm sorry, Russell, but I believe I own the trademark on that name as it's been officially documented***. However, I might be willing to lease it out for the right price because I need some extra cash to buy myself my own personal e-target so I can practice more often.

If you aren't already, just be aware that as a devoted follower of the teachings of Ludd, you cannot drive a hybrid car. Barrel tuners are completely out of the question, as are Joypods, target cams, and any of the next generation powders that have recently become available. Finally, you will be limited to using bullets that are at least one weight class/BC class lower than the best currently available.

We once evicted a man from the club for using a double base powder. It was harsh, because he was using it in a .30-06, but it had to be done.

I'm afraid you've got company. Except I'm not for the cowboy stuff and the bench rest. Getting old has nothing to do with it.

Yep, there are quite a few young'uns out there who don't like to compete on them as well. (Don't mind them for testing on club days when you do have an accurate target, frustrating trying to test when its inaccurate)

Here's another fly in the ointment... when was the last time you seen a target being manned go down for the remainder of the shoot? Weekend before last we had 5 out of 8 SMT up and running after the first relay got under way. We were shooting 5 to a mound at that time. I was on target 5, ours never did work from the start. We had one that went down the day before. The third was put out of commission after my target shooters found other targets to shoot on. Now with 5 running we were at 7 to a mound, we had 42 competitors. The head RO said we could either go home if we liked and our entry fee would go for our next shoot or pair fire, he did leave this up to us. Quite a few of us decided to leave figuring it may open it up to single fire with at the most 4 to a mound, which it did. This happened at the 1000 yarder where their are no manual butts (stationary targets). Had it happened on the 600 yard range we could have went to pulling. That was a long 80 mile ride home, but it was my choice, just like it was to shoot on the electronic targets.

It's as I said earlier - the most basic reliability of all - that the scheduled number of targets is available and that they work faultlessly throughout a match is crucial - far, far more crucial than disputing the degree of precision that the equipment reports shot placement to.

Elwood says how he was 'burned' by the equipment failures on a GB League round at Blair Atholl. (I was there too that weekend, but wasn't in the position of seeing a top-three class place being potentially wrecked.) RDavies in post #45 says the same thing of the Australian experience. Once a shooter suffers such problems, there is always the subsequent worry of its happening again, that a poor shot wasn't really a poor shot, rather the target starting to 'crash'.
