I've owned and shot this rifle for a number of years now. I am not certain why it has in the name either "Bench Rest" or "Magnum"?
I have two rifles in 243 Win. that shoot 6mm bullets more accurately than the 6mmBRM and at much higher MV.
That said, I have always been partial to single shot rifles. I own and shoot others in 45-70, 7mm Rem. Mag. and 280Rem. and like them all.
It is always an adventure to create the 6mmBRM brass. First I run 30-30 cases through a 7-30 Waters resizing die. Then run it again, through the 6mmBRM die. Then trim and viola, I have brass for the 6mmBRM.
The up side is, it is very pleasant to shoot at the range and it always draws other shooters over to my bench, asking something like; "Whut the heck is that?" It is a very pretty little rifle, for what that is worth.
Being built on a handgun frame, one should not load up too hot. E. Brown touts it as a mid velocity cartridge and that is what it is.
E. Brown has never been cooperative in giving load data for this cartridge. He shows one propellant, period. So, I go to similar cartridges, start low and work up as is usually the case.
Have fun in all of your shooting sports,
Steven
