Dynamite Stolen from Atlantic Sunrise Pipe Site in Lancaster County, PA

That is an extreme amount and I would bet it will be used to do something really bad. I hope they catch who did it and get it back.

That much dynamite and blasting caps in the hands of a knowledgeable terrorist is not likely to end well. Lets hope they find it before it is too late.

Kids would be my bet.

On a side note when I was working for a drilling and blasting company in GA. We set off 90k once.... Just once lol took 2 days to drill and load using anfo truck

Obviously it's someone that knew where it was at.. Should be under lock and key, didn't just happen across it..

curious how they can't figure out if they only recovered half, or all of it.

You would think, as much trouble as I go through to own a piece of pipe to screen onto my barrel, they would have FAR greater security requirements for explosives (which is actually in their damn name). How can I be required to lock my a 9" tube that ALMOST makes a rifle hearing safe, in a safe but they can lock enough explosives to take down a decent sized building or make about 100 VBIDs in a trailer?

The blaster in charge is supposed to log everything. caps. Boosters. Leadline. Dcord. Ect.... Whats on hand. And whats used after every shoot. Some paper work involved. All is stored in strong box magazines under lock and key..

C'mon Jay.... give the other half of it back. You don't need this stuff for the Tres Banditos............

I'm glad the F.B.I. didn't come a knocking at my door! They have all my info. In the late 70's one of my brother's-in-law was with me on a 4 day desert camping trip in a western state. We were metal detecting and going into old mine shafts, (yeah, I know). Well, we found what we later were told was 1200 lbs. of "fresh" dynamite. So, we debated and finally drove into the nearest town and called the police. Big mistake. When it was all said and done, the F.B.I. was there, pictures and fingerprints were taken. We were completely cleared, allowed to leave. It was quite a day and a half for us. The only good part of the whole incident was that my partner found a pristine, old whiskey bottle with the cork still in it! He later sold it for $250.

I don't know enough about dynamite to know how much that is.
705 lbs sounds like a lot.
In the Army, we had to low crawl through an active site. Machine guns over head, explosions in bagged craters... Those explosions were 1/4 stick of TNT. If I was close to the bags, it would lift me about an inch off the ground.

700lbs is a big bang. An average aircraft dropped bomb has less net explosove weight. I used to be an EOD guy, just so happen to be with in 50miles of the theft. Things like this make me cringe because I guarantee I'm on some sort of inventory list as a reward for my service.
