Duracoating

Used this on a 1911 15 years ago and still no marring on any of the painted surfaces and did it myself:

I have used the Duracoat and like it, very durable and easy to use, long working time in the sprayer but sets fast once sprayed. I think the best price /shipping is Midway. This is the flat finish, there are others though.
I also use the cheap Preval sprayers over my spray gun so I don't have to spend much time cleaning it and I can mix it in the glass jar it comes with. Cleans up easy with carb/brake cleaner too.

I did several guns over 10 years ago. They still look great and the finish has held up. Here is a 1911 I did in 2 different colors. Ensure the metal is super clean and free of any oils. I baked it in the wife's oven to cure it, she was not too happy. All in all, everything turned out fine.

I did a Colt Commander slide and a old beat up Police Positive a few years ago, both came out pretty nice.
I was smart enough to do them when wife was at work, hung them in the oven, opened the windows and sprayed some air freshener when I was done. She still doesn't know.
