duracoat

Duracoat is OK; I’ve seen it flake off before. Its fairly tuff and pretty good for a do it yourself project. Personally I’d send it out to get a Teflon style finish.

I have NEVER seen a rifle or pistol finished with Duracoat, that was properly prepared, and allowed to cure flake off.

The key there is properly prepared. It must be thoroughly degreased and they recommend blasting with 120 grit aluminum oxide. That is how I did my rifle and it is holding up great.

If some nimrod just sprayed it on with out proper preparation, then I can believe it came off, but otherwise it is tough and you can do stock and scope to match. Try that with a temp cured finish.

This question might of been asked before but I must of missed it... How much heat would be retained with a duracoat`ed bbl and are other coating better/ worse ? For a gun that might see comp. shootting & mostly be shot for dead varmints, would it be wise to coat a bbl,for camo purposes) or leave it just bead blasted ???
