Dumoulin Mauser actions ?

I am thinking about getting a Dumoulin A2 Mauser action.

However I would need someone/gunsmith to true the action. Is there anyone here that can give me an estimate of the cost of having this done?

Any competent gunsmith can true an action. Read reviews or get references on the smith before diving in. Good gunsmith's are getting more and more scarce these days. Usually costs range from $150-$300 on action truing depending on who you use and whether or not the smith thinks their work is superior for whatever reason.

If you like the Mauser/Win Mod 70 looks, another very nice action to consider is the Montana Model 1999. It will cost more for that action, but probably give better and smoother performance.

Hard to trust any Mauser action without dumping a bunch of money into it to make sure it's right. Perhaps the Dumoulin actions are drop in ready and will prove to be a good deal, but at a price point of around $350, they had to cut some corners in the production somewhere...Just my thoughts.

I got one of the Dumoulin actions from Sarco for a hunting build I did. They are rough but well worth the 350 if your wanting a nice action in the end. Lots of work not just truing but finishing work. Now this is not to shit talk Dumoulin. The actions at Sarco are seconds or something of the sort and were never factory finished. Actual Dumoulin actions straight from the company are much nicer finished and much much more expensive. However I would still rather have a Dumoulin I know needs work than a Montana that will most likely need sent back for factory work and parts replacement.

If you'd like I can send you pics of my finished action and let you know what I had to do to the action to get it functioning.

Well it's a good thing you answered my post Ledd Slinger, for me.
I just got back from researching the Dumoulin actions that are going for $295. - $500.00. It turns out they are made in China from a FN blueprint/engineering drawing.
I try very hard to stay away from things made in China!

One of the Mauser forums had all the information on them with true pictures of the action, it was really rough looking. The picture one sees at Sarco is NOT what one gets.

Minesweeper3433, I really would like to see your pictures, I simply love Mauser actions!

My gunsmith that passed away built me a "Bean field" rifle from a 1909 Argentine action with a 27" Hart barrel in 280 AI. It is the second most accurate rifle I owned at the time.

That Dumoulin clone would cost me a fortune to have a good gunsmith all the work.

I will look around and see if I can find a FN commercial action in great condition.

Here is a link of us taking an old Mauser and making her run like new again. http://www.mossbergmvp.com/index.php?threads/mauser-98-project.1341/

A Montana? Not for me.

I had heard the Montana actions were really rough during their early years of production and that they had to make some personnel changes and they got a lot better. Ive never owned one, just going from what my gunsmith had told me at one time. Can't imagine the Montana could be worse than a $300 Chinese made action, but I might be wrong...

Of the handful of forum threads I found saying that the actions are made in china have not provided one bit of evidence just hear say from someone else. And as to mine I'll get the pics up but it polished nicely all be it with a lot of work and blued just as well as the shilen barrel that now hangs on it. I spent aprox 130 hours just polishing and refitting parts however since I got to use it as a grade at school it was worth being able to charge for the labor. When I say a lot of labor refitting and finishing I mean straight out filling on the action for days at a time before moving to stones. I got rid of the writing on the side of the action which turned out to not be very deep. The serial number is bellow stock line and someday I may be able to afford some subtle engraving to decorate my rifle.
