Dummies for throating

So if a guy was ordering a barrel for a 6 BR Norma and planned to shoot 105-108 g bullets what is recommended on to how build dummies, overall length, etc for the guy doing the throating .

It’s for a Shilen, they “throat to dummies “

Since you are ordering a barrel, and having someone who already has the reamer, this is what I would do, it has worked perfect in 3 different rifles for me in this same 6br Norma cartridge.

I would suggest obtaining a fired 6BR even from someone else, then Full length size it, I use a SB Body die, and turn the neck, even if you going with a no turn chamber. I try and seat aprox the diameter of the bore in seating depth for proper bullet alignment (concentricity)! 6mm bore 24 caliber, to .240" of the bullet being seated in the case mouth. In the standard BR this will give you more jump than needed if you need to work back before getting to the shoulder junction in the case.

with a BT I try and get that same depth from the full dia of the bullet seated in the case.

I use a body die bottomed out to set this case length with the BR case fully seated in the die, and bottomed out just before the full stroke of my press. I now have a way to set my barrel for .002" to .003" full bump after each firing. Then rely on my Wilson neck die to determine bullet tension. Once I have found the right tension, I send 5 fired cases to to my die maker, and give him the neck dimension I am sizing with for custom dies if you decide to go that route!

Most cases, I continue to use my bottomed out body die, then my Wilson sizer with the selected bushing, and always seat with the Wilson seater this is what I prefer and get outstanding results with fantastic brass life. never bumping more than about .0025" between loadings.
