So iv always wondered how all the BR shooters get the perfect round holes iin there targets . Is it the material the target is made of ?

Good to know.its annoying when trying to work on a load and paper is ripping all over the place. Maby i could get my targets photo copied on card stock or something

Most printers will handle card stock. I use mine for this purpose. I use a re-sized IBS 100yd. (1 sighter 5 bulls)on 8 1/2 x 11" card stock. Something to check into is ,if there's a High School or Tech School Graphics class nearby, see if they'll print up a bunch (practice for the students) for the local Gun Club. This is what our Club does and we go through about a PALLET a year for the rifle shooters. The school does it for free.

I have had good luck using poster board in neon colors. It is strong enough to show the groups without tearing and the bright colors make the groups show up in the spotting scope very well. IMO

Good shooting,
Gene

For printing my targets at home, I go to Staples or my local paper supply house and buy the matte finish, colored copy paper, 65lb or heavier.

I buy 100 targets from Dan Killough for $20, shipped IIRC. They are heavy stock, nice holes, with 25 record targets and lotsa sighter bullseyes. Killough Shooting Sports - Dan's a great guy to do business with!

cjmac,
what size targets you want, I mean ring size, I'll send you a pdf file and you can print on your computer, on 8.5x11. I got 110 lb stock on Ebay a few months ago for around $9-$11 shipped for 250 sheets. Tried posting the pdf files on here but they are each just over the maximum allowed size.

Just checked Ebay, it has gone waaayyyyy up, almost twice what I quoted.

Some years back, there was a target company that made targets on a special paper.

The paper made very clean holes when used with long pointy bullets - something about very short fibers and a binder that made the paper brittle (you could roll them but not fold them).

Bullet holes from a 200gr VLD looked like they were made with a paper punch (really).

I thought I bookmarked the website, but now it not there.

Does anyone remember these and know where they can be found??

I think i seen them on a website but thay are discontinued i think. Was it caldwell targets?

It's mostly due to the high quality target paper. The backers, usually homosote, do have large holes due to the fact most bullets are concentrated to a small area. The IBS currently gets their targets from Orrvilleprinting.com. Sinclair sells regulation BR targets, but most are old stock from National Target or Speedwell and not of the same quality as the current supplier.

I use card stock paper and it works well.

If you don't want to keep the targets, get a can of spray adhesive. A light coat on 20 lb paper pressed tightly to a piece of fresh cardboard will give very clean holes.

I also use 110 lb card stock and print my own targets on it. You can get a 250 sheet ream of it at wally world for a reasonable price. Under $10, I think.
