dual purpose powder 243 and 270win

I'm just now getting started in reloading and hoping to cut a bit of costs while getting started. Any suggestions of a powder that would work well with a 243win and a 270win?

I'm wanting to shoot 70-80ish grain bullets in the 243 and 130s in the 270. I know 4831 is supposed to be the go to powder for the 270, but I hear a lot of different data for the 243. Sounds like 4350 for it though. Would rl-17 or ramshot hunter be a good powder to try to span the gap?

I currently have access to a small supply of h380 (not sure if great for either one) and 4831SC (too slow for 243?). Oh, I also picked up a box of cci200 primers while I could find them around here.

Thanks guys! Any information you can offer up is appreciated.

Oh, if it helps both rifles are 22" barrels and 1:10" for the 270 and 1:9.25 on the 243.

Ramshot Big Game and Ramshot Hunter. The B.G. for the .270 is not listed in there data, you can call them and they will give it to you over the phone. I did.

Thanks for the help guys. I believe it's going to come down to either H4350 or RL-17. Kinda depends on which one I find first around here.

Bob, what kind of performance are you getting from your 270 with 4350?

Cstilt,
I get 3000 from a 24" bbl, factory 700bcl rem with rem cases and 9 1/2 primers shoots 5/8th - on thge 150gr 53 gr gives 2850 and shoots 5/8

the 243 shoots 100 at close to 3000 and the 70 over 3300 into 1/2, use Sierra loading info

action glass bedded, free floated, trigger adjusted to 3#

Bob

Don't rule out IMR 4350. I have not had as many good ( most accurate) loads with the H4350. I use IMR 4064 in a lot of guns but it is a pain to use in a powder measure because of the long sticks. Your guns will decide which powder and bullet combination it likes. Good shooting

My .270 Winchester likes IMR 4350, and it works well in some of my other guns. I concur with wapiti25; your gun will let you know what it wants.

H4350 and IMR 4064 is where I would start. Both have given me excellent performance and accuracy in both cartridges.

As mentioned above, I think you'll find something you like with the 4350's. Another good one not mentioned is V555.
