Dual purpose 100-200m BR / 600 - 1000 m thoughts

Hey guys,

For shooting 100/200m BR against 6mmPPC I was thinking of a 30BR with a 1:17 twist. For 600/1000 yard a 6mm BR with a 1:8 twist. That way I could have a Stiller Viper Drop port set up for the BR case, with interchangable barrels

For scopes, would a Leupold 8.5 - 25 x 50 LRT be sufficient,currently own one and really love the thing)

Does the above sound acceptable for competitive use?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Depends on your meaning of the word "competitive". The 30 BR will not win you much in the way of attaboys at 100 - 200 yard group benchrest. It will work great for short-range score shooting. The 6BR with an 8 twist and the correct bullet can be very competitive at 600 yards but is marginal at 1000 yards. The Leupold scope will work at all yardages but is not the best for 100 -200 benchrest. All of the disciplines mentioned,group, score, long range) have become very specialized and almost always demand specialty rifles to be truly competitive. JMHO
