Drop Tubes

Those long cylindrical powders always give me issues with blockage so I wanted to try out a longer drop tube. I also wanted to make the drop tube a specific length and with a diameter to fit my case perfectly. Yes, I know I am asking alot so I decided to draw one up. My friend used a 3D printer to make a prototype for testing and it worked extremely well. Now off to a 3D printing service to make one that is transparent.

They use to make adapter for RCBS and it's on left.

I've got one that adapter is made hard plastic like Sinclair and I got 4"/6" drop tubes and 6 insert with 0 rings that fit bottom of drop tubes and they go
from 17 cal up to 30cal.

Made adapter, like one I have 4"/6" work great.
I was going to order that but they were out of stock. It seems Brownells is out of stock on a lot of things lately.

Very nice, I can't believe they are not available for common powder measurers. I've wanted one for my Hornady but I can find any available. Plus, I bought a chargemaster and started weighing ever charge.

Harrell’s Precision has various drop tubes. My drop tube rig is attached to the bench using a RCBS funnel with a 8” drop tube. I short throw the powder into the pan, put it on the scale and let Adams Trickler does the rest.

For your consideration, a drop tube with baffles to slow down the powder.

I added some brass baffles to an aluminum tube and I have it so I can drop a charge into my 505 scale the finish off with my Omega trickler. A few Varget kernels may jump out but a lot more splash out on a straight drop.

Powder splashing isn't an issue on electric scales with deep powder pans but for a beam scale it is, if that's what you use. Anywho mine works but I may look to 3D printing one that's better for what I want. You had a good idea.

I shortened one of my brass drop tubes that I use to use for black powder. This one is 10" long. I have found that if you have to use a drop tube for your powder, dropping it straight from the powder measure does not work for me since it drops the whole load at one time. I drop it in the pan, weight it, trickle it up if needed and then slowly run it through the drop tube. No more issues for me.
