Drop Port Stolle Panda Action For My 30BR

Mike,

That's a great video. I'll be putting it on the Daily Bulletin.

You readers should also watch Mike's 13-minute video showing a 6.5x47 benchrest gun being built -- start to finish. This video will teach you more about how a precision rifle is built than reading dozens of posts.

Those Texas boys at S&S sure build some nice rifles...

The problem i see is the case drops case neck first, the last thing i need is a dent or nick on the neck mouth...........jim

I have only used a Viper Drop Port one time, and I didn't notice which end of the case hit the two thicknesses of terry cloth after the 4.5" drop from the bottom of the stock, but I would have noticed any neck damage immediately. There was none. The chamber had a .262 neck, so the brass was relatively thin. I shot several groups with the same brass. They were all good. The wind was easy, the load tuned, and managed not to mess up.

They all fall case mouth first. I put a plastic deflector on mine so the cases are kicked out to the right into a plastic tray. This keeps them out from under my left hand as it works the joystick.
