Drop in Remington 700 action replacement

Is there a custom action that will drop right in to an already Remington 700 glass/pillar bedded stock, no re-bedding or re-inletting required?

Yes. My Borden’s drop into several of mine. As long as it’s opened up to a .250 lug. Will also have to make notch for straight bolt handle and side bolt release. Other than that drops in perfect.

thanks what model Borden Action did you use? my bolt release is on the bottom with a Jewell trigger

Bat, kelblys, stiller, defiance all make em. I think pretty much every action mfr does

Just because it "drops in" doesn't mean its exactly the same as your old Remington. We hope a custom will be straighter and more uniform. I'd re-bed it, but I ain't a gunsmith

You can read the serial number in a good bedding job. So it is hard to get 2 actions with the same serial number.

It needs rebedded to be 100%.....

I definitely recommend rebedding the stock.

That said, most actions that are "Remington footprint", are not truly Remington clones. Often the ejection port, the bolt notch and bolt release are different and need to be modified on the stock for a true fit. Not hard work to do by hand, but it's one of the reasons we have inletting programs that are action/feature specific for our stocks.
